The Gyndine Shipyards were mid-sized shipyards that orbited Gyndine.[3][6] They were used by Kuat Drive Yards to conduct research and development.[8]
History
While repairing trash compactor faults in the Kuat Drive Yards research part of the shipyards, the astromech droid R4-P17 was crushed and left for scrap. Anakin Skywalker later discovered the droid while visiting the shipyards to inspect the Jedi customizations made to the Delta-7 interceptor design. He rebuilt her with a R2-series dome.[9] During the Clone Wars, the Gyndine shipyards had strategic value for the Galactic Republic.[4]
The shipyards were destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong fleet in the Battle of Gyndine.[6] After the Yuuzhan Vong War, the yards were rebuilt, and in 40 ABY were assaulted by a Confederation task force.[7]
