Gunner was a clone trooper who participated in the Battle of Bogoa under command of Commander Cody. Gunner was injured during the fight, but he was saved by a battle droid named Coppertop.

Biography

Developed from the genetic template of bounty hunter Jango Fett,[1] the clone who would take on the name Gunner was created to fight for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. A clone trooper, Gunner served in the Grand Army of the Republic's 212th Attack Battalion under the command of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody. At some point during the war, Gunner was part of a company sent to the planet Bogoa to fight off the Separatist's battle droids.[2]

The battle lasted three days and during the fight Gunner encountered the Chiss bounty hunter Cyreltov and sustained injuries. After the battle ended, the injured Gunner laid on the ground and was eventually found by Coppertop, a B1-series battle droid who attempted to aid the injured clone. Coppertop bandaged Gunner and the two were eventually found by Commander Cody who had been searching the battlefield for survivors. Cody was about to blast Coppertop before Obi-Wan Kenobi stopped him, realizing that the droid had saved Gunner's life. Coppertop explained to them that on the second day of the conflict, he heard a voice whisper the words "Order 99" to him, which caused his primary systems to shut down and upon rebooting was left with the core command to ignore his programming.[2]

With Coppertop joining them, Cody carried Gunner back to the group of clones who had survived the battle. Joined with the group, Gunner laid on ground until the Separatist Asajj Ventress and bounty hunter Cyreltov made arrived as they were after Coppertop. Upon seeing the bounty hunter, Gunner drew his blaster pistol and attempted to inform General Kenobi on who the Chiss was. A fight then ensued and only ceased when Coppertop surrendered over to the Separatists.[2]

Personality and traits

Gunner was a clone of Jango Fett, and as such stood at 1.83 meters tall[1] and had tan skin. Gunner had light brown hair which he shaved into the double stripe hairstyle.[2]

Equipment

Gunner wore Phase I clone trooper armor with a kama and orange gloves. He was armed with a blaster pistol.[2]

Behind the scenes

Gunner appeared in The Only Good Clanker, a comic strip written by Robin Etherington and illustrated by artist Will Sliney, which was included in the October 2011 magazine Star Wars: The Clone Wars Comic UK 6.26. There is one panel in the comic where one of Gunner's gloves is shown to be the same color as his skin while the other is gray, instead of the orange seen throughout the rest of the comic. There is also a panel where Gunner's hair is black, rather than the light brown color seen in the other comic panels.[2]
