The Guardians of Javin were a group of Force users that had fewer rules than the Jedi Order and found value in the chaotic and destructive side of the Force. They shared their name[1] with the Javin Sector astronomical object Javin,[2] as well as the Outer Rim's Greater Javin region.[3] By 232 BBY,[4] the Jedi Padawan Imri Cantaros had studied the group along with the Nightsisters[1]—a coven of witches from the Outer Rim planet Dathomir,[5]—in the archives of the library in the outpost Port Haileap on the Outer Rim planet Haileap.[1]
That year,[4] after he saw the lightwhip modification to the Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh's lightsaber on the Outer Rim jungle moon Wevo, Cantaros mentally noted his jealousy of Rwoh because of the specialness and uniqueness of her lightsaber. The Padawan knew that the emotion was one of the doorways to the dark side, and recalled his own studies of groups like the Guardians of Javin with fewer rules than the Jedi.[1]
