An Esoomian gruu pipe[1] was a sweet-smelling device[2] smoked to heighten awareness.[1] During his travels, the Sarkan exile Melas developed a fondness for smoking a gruu pipe, and only rarely was he seen without it.[2]
Behind the scenes
The gruu pipe was originally created for the 1997 Special Edition re-release of the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[3] It was first identified in Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, Special Edition, a Star Wars Legends sourcebook written by George R. Strayton, Paul Sudlow, and Eric S. Trautmann for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game[2] and released in October 1997.[4]
