A female was the great-grandmother of the Kaleesh Qymaen jai Sheelal. The female fought[1] alongside the Kolkpravis, the united army of the Kaleesh of the planet Kalee in the Bitthævrian War in approximately 65 BBY.[2] The war was instigated when corrupt Galactic Republic officials secretly trained the Kaleesh[1] and armed them with Outland rifles[2] made by Czerka Arms[1] to fight the Bitthævrian species in the Kadok Regions,[2] on which Kalee bordered.[1]
The female fought against the advance by the Bitthævrians,[1] and their great-grandson also participated in the storming of Guiteica, the Bitthævrian homeworld.[3] Sheelal, who later changed his name to Grievous after becoming a warlord, inherited his great-grandmother's Outland rifle[1] and was tought to use it by his father prior to turning eight years old.[4] The rifle was either lost or destroyed when Grievous's shuttle, the Martyr, crashed[1] by 29 BBY[5] on Kalee.[6]
Behind the scenes
Grievous's great-grandmother was mentioned in "The Story of General Grievous: Lord of War," an article written by Abel G. Peña and published in 2006 on Hyperspace, a subscription service on StarWars.com.[1]

- ↑ Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader states that Grievous's cyborg reconstruction, as described by "The Story of General Grievous: Lord of War" to have occurred following his shuttle crash, had taken place a decade earlier, and The Essential Reader's Companion places the novel in 19 BBY. Therefore, the Martyr must have crashed by 29 BBY.
