- "You are to take the NavStar freighter to Da'Harrin Spaceport on Greyman's Planet in the Soarin System. There you will meet with Roger Stern of Stern Traders. He is a Rebel sympathizer and will provide the supplies you are to pick up."
- ―The commander of the Tancon Rebel Alliance base, to a team of Rebel agents
Greyman's Planet was an industrialized Outer Rim Territories planet located in the Wazta sector. It was controlled by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War, and at one point the Rebel Alliance executed a mission to transport supplies from it to the Alliance's outpost on the planet Karinda. As part of the mission, a team of Rebel agents, posing as employees of a front company, were able to retrieve the impounded supplies from Da'Harrin Spaceport on Greyman's Planet and, after a shootout with an Imperial patrol, their light freighter departed the planet's star system.
Description
Greyman's Planet was a terrestrial planet located in the Soarin system[2] of the Outer Rim Territories' Wazta sector.[1] It was situated at a distance of two days' travel with a starship equipped with a Class 1 hyperdrive from both the planet Karinda in the Karinda system and the planet Tancon[2] of the Koradin sector.[4]
History
- "You must first pick up the supplies on an Imperial planet. That shouldn't cause you concern, as we have prepared a cover."
- ―The commander of the Tancon Rebel Alliance base, to a team of Rebel agents
The Rebel Alliance carried out a mission to deliver supplies between Greyman's Planet and the planet Karinda, both in the Wazta sector (pictured).
During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Greyman's Planet was under the control of the Empire.[2] At some point between 0 ABY and 3 ABY,[5] the Alliance formulated a plan for a mission to deliver supplies from Da'Harrin Spaceport on Greyman's Planet to the Rebel Karinda Outpost on the planet of the same name. At the Alliance base on Tancon, the coordinates for Greyman's Planet were loaded in the navigation computer of the light freighter Arion Star, and datapad-based landing permits for the planet were also placed aboard, after which the base's commander briefed a team of agents on the mission.[2]
On Greyman's Planet, the Rebel Alliance team retrieved the impounded supplies from Da'Harrin Spaceport (layout depicted).
Posing as employees of the Alliance front company NavStar Transport, the team traveled to Greyman's Planet aboard the Arion Star. Before the freighter began its landing cycle, it was hailed from the planet with instructions to transmit its landing permit code, after which the vessel was assigned a landing pad in Da'Harrin Spaceport. In the city housing Da'Harrin Spaceport, the Rebel agents learned that Roger Stern of the company Stern Traders—the contact from which they were to pick up the supplies—had recently been arrested by the Empire. The arrest threw the entire spaceport into a state of chaos, with the local planetary government struggling to shut down Stern Traders and impounding its freights due to the large volume of goods that the business had been handling.[2]
The agents subsequently retrieved their cargo of supplies that had been impounded at the spaceport. However, when the Arion Star, which had not been given authorization to launch, traveled off Greyman's Planet, it was met outside the world's atmosphere by a patrol consisting of an Imperial Customs Frigate and its TIE/ln space superiority starfighters. The freighter then fought off the starfighters and ultimately jumped into hyperspace, although the Imperials eventually traced it to Karinda.[2]
Inhabitants
- "NavStar Transport Freighter Arion Star, please transmit your landing permit code. If you have no permit, you will enter a parking orbit and wait until an application can be processed."
- ―Greyman's Planet authorities
Greyman's Planet was an industrialized world. Starships visiting the planet without a landing permit had to enter a parking orbit and wait there until an application for a permit could be processed. A tavern situated near the planet's Da'Harrin Spaceport catered specifically to off-worlders and was visited by members of various species.[2]
Locations
A city was located on Greyman's Planet. It was the site of Da'Harrin Spaceport, which contained both a terminal for passenger liners and their shuttles, and the headquarters and hangar for the local planetary patrol force. A tavern was located near the spaceport, and the Galactic Empire also maintained a garrison outside the city.[2]
Behind the scenes
Greyman's Planet appeared in the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game adventure "Milk Run," which was written by Sterling Hershey[2] and was run by the RPGA Network at the 1991 Gen Con gaming convention.[6] The adventure suggests that if, instead of engaging the Galactic Empire's patrol in combat, the player characters elect to return to Greyman's Planet's surface, they are arrested as Rebel Alliance sympathizers and imprisoned. This article assumes the scenario plays out as described.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Soarin system, and therefore Greyman's Planet, in grid square J-18.[3]
