For other uses, see greel and screamer.

Greel screamers were a non-sentient avian predator native to the forests of the planet Pii IV. They were capable of flight and had a carnivorous diet. Greel screamers resided in greel trees, often in groups of four to eight. The avian was named for their cries when their territory was threatened. The greel screamer featured a 0.75 meters long reptilian body, toothy beak, and flexible wings with a wingspan of 1.5 meters. Though the Greel Wood Logging Corporation took precautions to flush the hostile avian from trees before cutting them down, attacks from greel screamers could occur during logging. This threat demanded workers to be assigned "crimson duty" to defend the others.[1]

Sometime during the Galactic Civil War, a group of individuals joined a logging crew of the Greel Wood Logging Corporation to evade Imperial forces on Pii IV. While assisting the crew, the individuals fought off greel screamers.[1]

Behind the scenes

Greel screamers were mentioned in "The Greel Wood Haven," an article featured in the sixth issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal, a roleplaying magazine that was published by West End Games in May of 1995 for their Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The article provided an adventure seed set on Pii IV[1] and this article assumes the adventure occurs as described.
