- "He maintained a private box at the Grand Imperial Opera House but it is unclear how often he visited. Other guests sometimes noted the appearance of the red-robed Royal Guards within the building but that is not definitive proof that Palpatine himself was in attendance."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
The Grand Imperial Opera House was an opera house associated with the Galactic Empire during its reign. The reclusive Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine—a lover of opera and ballet—maintained a private box at the opera house, although it was unclear how often he visited the venue. The Emperor's Royal Guard would sometimes be spotted in the building by other guests and these appearances were covered in various issues of the periodical Coruscanti Society but did not necessarily mean Palpatine himself was present.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] the historian Beaumont Kin mentioned the Grand Imperial Opera House in[1] his[3] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire in which he speculated that the appearance of the guards at the opera house could just have easily been to make it appear that Palpatine moved around rather than actually suggesting his presence.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Grand Imperial Opera House was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
