- "[Aga Culpa] might rule [the Smuggler's Moon], but he doesn't control it. Everyone on Nar Shaddaa answers to Krayn."
- ―Gogol to Obi-Wan Kenobi at the Dor
Gogol was a male humanoid criminal who haunted the Dor on Coruscant in the final years of the Galactic Republic, before the Clone Wars.
Gogol sold Obi-Wan Kenobi information about the slave-raider Krayn's dealings with the Colicoids, about which ties the Jedi Master had been suspicious since Krayn's attack on a Colicoid cargo ship that Kenobi and his Padawan were escorting, and its captain's rage at Krayn, as if the assault and resultant offense taken had been of a personal nature.
Kenobi learned from Gogol that the Colocoids had recently and secretly taken over the Kessel mines and that they were planning a total usurpation of the spice trade, including of its processing factories run by Krayn on Nar Shaddaa, the "Smuggler's Moon"—operations made possible by Krayn's seemingly inexhaustible supply of slaves.
Behind the scenes
Gogol appears to be of the same species as Fay and Princess Lourdes. All these individuals appear to be Human, but with pointy ears. Leland Chee, on the StarWars.com Message Boards, stated that his theory is that "all pointy-eared species are either Sephi or closely related to Sephi."[2]

Holocron continuity database questions on the StarWars.com Message Boards (June 8, 2007): "For the longest time we've used dozens of pointy-eared characters without a species name for them. The pointed-eared species in the Jedi: Yoda comic were named Sephi. My theory is that all pointy-eared species are either Sephi or closely related to Sephi." (original site is defunct)
