The clone trooper who would fly under the call sign Ghost Leader[2] was created on the planet Kamino from the clone template of bounty hunter Jango Fett.[1] Trained[3] as a clone pilot, they would serve in the Galactic Republic's Navy as leader of the V-19 Torrent starfighter squadron known as Ghost Squadron. Serving the Republic, they fought in the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems[2]

During the war, Ghost Squadron was tasked with escorting the Gran Senator Kharrus to his home planet of Kinyen for negotiations. As the senator prepared for arrival, they were ambushed by vulture droids. With the aid of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ghost Leader commanded Ghost Squadron as they attempted to protect Senator Kharrus at all costs. During the dogfight, the Republic cruiser Kharrus was aboard sustained too much damage, forcing the senator to evacuate in an escape pod.[2]

Battleship

"Look at the size of that thing. We've got no chance against firepower of that magnitude!"
"Cut the chatter Green Five, we've got to buy General Kenobi some time on the ground. Draw those fighters away from the battleship - it's our only chance."

With the senator's escape pod landing on Kinyen, Obi-Wan Kenobi ordered Ghost Squadron to pursue the vulture droids while he located the senator. Chasing down the droids, Ghost Squadron eventually found themselves in a trap once they realized they had been led to a Lucrehulk-class battleship. Not standing a chance against the Lucrehulk, Green Five expressed their dismay, to which Ghost Leader told the clone pilot to cut the chatter and ordered the squadron to draw the fighters away from the battleship in order to buy Kenobi some time on the ground. As the dogfight ensued, Ghost Squadron was quickly overwhelmed, and with no other option, Ghost Leader ordered the squadron to fly through the nearby asteroid field in hopes of losing the vulture droids.[2]

The squadron raced towards the asteroid field, fighting droids on their way. Upon reaching the field, Ghost Squadron began maneuvering around the asteroids until they received a message from General Kenobi who had located the senator and sent the squadron their coordinates. Unable to lose the vulture droids in the asteroid field, General Kenobi notified the squadron about a small Republic outpost just below their position where they could acquire a Republic attack gunship. Fleeing to the outpost, the remaining members of Ghost Squadron commandeered a gunship and made their way back to Kinyen to evacuate Senator Kharrus and General Kenobi.[2]
