An individual served as the governor of[1] the Colonies planet[2] Ghorman. During his tenure[1] in approximately 19 BBY, shortly after[3] the transformation of the Galactic Republic into the Empire,[4] the governor refused to bow to Emperor Palpatine. The Empire later increased Ghorman's taxes and, in response, many Ghormanian citizens staged[1] a peaceful protest[5] against the Empire's increased taxation at their planet's primary spaceport.[1] Hundreds there were killed or wounded[4] in the Ghorman Massacre when Imperial Captain Wilhuff Tarkin landed his warship on top of the protestors.[5]
