There have been several exclusive Star Wars audio drama adaptations produced in the German language. While Star Wars literature is translated into many languages worldwide, and standard audiobooks in which a narrator reads the complete or abridged text of a novel exist in many of those languages, the German licensees have created several full-cast dramatizations along the lines of the English-language radio drama adaptations of the original trilogy. These unique adaptations, known as Hörspiele in German, form an extensive body of audio media with no direct English-language equivalent.
In total, eleven theatrical films, five novels, one animated television movie, and 76 animated television episodes have been adapted into German-language audio dramas, across 71 total compact discs.

Universal Music adaptations
Universal Music Group's German division adapted the sequel trilogy, the two Star Wars Anthology films, the first two seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, and the first two seasons of Star Wars Rebels with the exception of the second-season finale, between 2011 and 2020.
