An geothermal power generator was a type of generate designed to tap into the heat of a planets core to provide power to a base, stronghold, or installation on a planets surface. Stationary geothermal generators were often called geothermal power plants.
One of the most efficient power sources available, and capable of providing nearly limitless energy to a planet based installation, geothermal generators were nonetheless extremely difficult to install - and were thus extremely costly at several million credits. In order to install a geothermal reactor, geothermal conduits have to be installed through costly crust drilling procedures, with excess heat dissipators and the generator itself only being installed after drilling is complete. Because of the nature of this type of power source, its heat signature is very easy to detect and not very suited for concealed facilities.
Examples of this type of power source are hyperbatteries and geothermal taps.
