Garven Meccamitta was a male Human doctor of noble heritage who was known for his medical genius. He was the chief surgeon and dean of the Rhinnal State Medical Academy located in Rhire on the Core Worlds planet of Rhinnal. He was tall for a Human and towered over his subordinates both in stature and achievement. He had little patience with others and tended to roll his eyes when asked a question. Meccamitta tended to dress in a clean white surgeon's outfit at all times as a mark of his professionalism. He was very strict about enforcing quarantines.
Behind the scenes
Dr. Garven Meccamitta was introduced in Coruscant and the Core Worlds, a sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, published by Wizards of the Coast on January 3, 2003. The sourcebook offered players several adventure hooks for their home campaigns. One such scenario, titled «Quarantine», involved the character Garven Meccamitta.
While at the Rhinnal State Medical Academy, the heroes meet Dr. Garven Meccamitta. The doctor is concerned that the characters may have been exposed to an unknown pathogen during their adventure. He wants to quarantine them for at least a week. Arrogantly assuming that «those sort of people» won't respond to a polite request, Meccamitta tries to sedate the heroes with medical droids or knock them unconscious with a roomflooding knockout gas. Those who succumb awaken to find themselves weaponless within the locked-down isolation ward. Escaping from this quarantine isn’t a simple matter: The hospital is larger than a Star Destroyer. The heroes must also take pains not to harm innocent hospital employees – even Dr. Meccamitta is acting in what he feels are Rhinnal's best interests.
