Characteristics
A fusion disintegrator was a canister-like device that used a contained reactor to reduce other materials to atomic particles through use of an adjustable fusion beam. Finding widespread use in tunneling applications, they were used to dispose of dirt and rock as opposed to having to physically move the material out of the tunnel. Because of the nature of the machine, it could be used to cut through virtually any material, though it could take several minutes depending on the thickness of the material. A fusion disintegrator could be used manually, or mounted on a support tripod.
History
Drend Navett used a Valkrex Machinery Dispersal canister to dispose of the dirt excavated during their attempt to bring down the planetary deflector shields on Bothawui during the Caamas Document Crisis. Navett also extended the device's beam to cut through thick armored plating during the same mission, though it took ten minutes to do so.
