The Fourth Moon of Nuhatu was the location of the massive New Republic listening outpost known as Glass Mountain.

Topography

The Fourth Moon of Nuhatu was dotted with various mountains, one of which being entirely crystalline in nature. The moon was also with valleys commonly occupied by local Nerf herders.

History

"What's the chance the Imps will decide to build a cargo port or somethin' worse here, Skub?"
"We checked it out. Sure, the Empire scans it twice a day... probes make their weekly runs. But the moon's magnetic core makes this place useless to the Imps. It's a communications sink"
"
―Kell Nones and Tlus Skub[1]

The Rebel Allaince arrived on the Fourth Moon of Nuhatu to construct a listening outpost within a hollowed out crystalline mountain which was dubbed 'Glass Mountain'. The moon was chosen because of its unique magnetic core, which made it difficult for Imperial probes to scan its surface and relay communications. Thirty Yaka defence specialists worked in tandem with Alliance workers to bring Glass Mountain operational, however, the Yaka quickly became bored at the lack of activity on the moon. At some point during the early stages of Operation Shadow Hand, Alliance Engineer, Kell Nones, arrived from Tatooine to the Fourth Moon of Nuhatu to help the one hundred and twenty-five technicians of Glass Mountain to move equipment and maintain the various listening devices. During Kell's tour of the facility, Modon Lasma Ion Cannons were installed into the rugged valleys outlying Glass Mountain.

The Fourth Moon of Nuhata would later come under attack by a Dark Empire fleet led by Sedriss QL and his Dark Side Elite. Sedriss ordered his fleet's turbolasers to annihilate the Alliance bunkers circumambulating the moon before deploying a landing party consisting of Stormtroopers, battle droids and himself into Glass Mountain's interior. By the end of the assault, Kell Nones and all other personnel on the listening outpost were slain by Sedriss' attack force. Said force then retreated to the planet, Vjun, before any New Republic reinforcements could arrive to save Glass Mountain.

Behind the scenes

  • The Fourth Moon of Nuhatu appeared within the unreleased 1996 and 2009 manuscripts of the cancelled Lightsider storyline by Tom Veitch. Both manuscript versions were obtained by author Joseph Bongiorno, who released them as online PDFs on his website starwarstimeline.net.[2]
  • The New Republic personnel stationed on the Fourth Moon of Nuhatu are erroneously called members of the "Rebel Alliance", despite the fact that the organisation was re-established as the "New Republic" by the time this story took place. This appeared to follow a reoccurring trend for Tom Veitch, who often mistakenly called the New Republic the Rebel Alliance within the Dark Empire Trilogy that the Lightsider storyline was meant to coincide with before its cancellation.
