Untitled Star Wars MMORPG (talk - history - links - logs)

Per arguments which will likely continue to spring forth on the article's talk page, I really do believe that we should follow the precedent set on the articles which were created for the rumored 'Battlefront III and KotOR III. I was under the impression that until an official announcement is made, any new game will not receive a Main space article of its own.

Comments

• I created this article based on the precedent of our Star Wars: Battlefront III article. The source for this article is primotechnology.com, as shown in the external link I put at the bottom of the article. The authors swear it's accurate, and for what it's worth, 5 Google news sites and Wikipedia picked it up. -LtNOWIS 07:01, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
• We deleted the Battlefront III article, but it was only backed up by an "industry rumour" with no real names attached that predicted events which never took place. —Silly Dan (talk) 18:20, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Arguments for deletion

1. —Graestan Jedi Order (This party's over) 06:13, 24 October 2007 (UTC) (I struck that. My bad. The argument is above. - Sikon 14:30, 11 November 2007 (UTC))
2. Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas then. Thefourdotelipsis 11:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
3. Pure speculation. Imperialles 12:29, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
4. Delete. And Per Victor, Delete Battlefront III as well. Maybe redirect to BTS on Battlefront II to state that there is speculation, but until we have official confirmation, get rid of them. They may just sit around for decades if the games are never made and no further announcements are made. Wildyoda 20:34, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
5. Until there's official confirmation, this is just a rumor. And delete Battlefront III while we're at it. BryanG 04:00, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
6. Delete, plz. Carlitos Moff 19:13, 1 November 2007 (UTC) - vote only, no reason given
7. Okay...
• Let's face the obvious: it's a rumor. There is no official confirmation of a KOTOR MMO. The information is based on a single source, which cites an unnamed "source close to BioWare". The media speculation around it is notable; heck, I wouldn't object to an article like Knights of the Old Republic MMO speculation, or Knights of the Old Republic MMO rumor, as long as it's about the speculation, not about an unconfirmed title that the speculation is about.
• Having said that, the article must be deleted per the attribution policy, as the article has no reliable sources.
• Furthermore, the article is unacceptable in its current form. The only word saying that it's a rumor is the word "reportedly". Everything else in the article describes it as if it was a real, confirmed game. This is just begging for confusion. - Sikon 14:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
• Well, it's a 2 sentence article man. That one word covers everything well enough. That said, I would be fine with moving the article to a speculation-covering article like you suggest. Which would not really be too big of a change. --LtNOWIS 16:08, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
8. I thought we had deleted the BFIII article also. Kuralyov 16:37, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
I think we deleted a KOTOR III article at some point too. —Silly Dan (talk) 19:55, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
9. Delete, seeing that it's a simple rumor. We might as well burn Battle Front III too since the issue has come up. Din's Fire 997 05:57, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
10. Delete until I am confirmed that it DOES in fact exist! Havac 17:08, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Arguments for keeping

1. Why delete it? The Battlefront III article is still on the site, plus, the source for the KOTOR MMO is more reliable/legit than the Battlefront III source. I say we either delete Battlefront III also or just keep this one as well, because it'd be unfair to keep the BF III and not keeping this one. Victor (talk) 00:58, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

3. Keep and lock till status of rumor is verified. KEJ 10:32, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
4. Per the new rumors sparked by the LucasArts-BioWare big secret project. --LtNOWIS 03:35, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
5. Nope. It exists, far as we know. It's even on our main page. Besides, we will just have to recreate it once it comes out. Roger Roger 22:23, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
6. Okay, dumb as it sounds, people come to us for information. So if something appears on teh interwebz on upcoming products (legimate sources, mind you), we should probably have an article on it. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 03:58, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
• Except this is not a legitimate source. A legitimate source would be an official statement by LucasArts/LFL and/or Bioware, and nothing less. - Sikon 14:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
• A gaming site like the one listed as a source is not a legitimate source. But it is arguably a reliable source, as described in Wookieepedia:Attribution. -LtNOWIS 16:21, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
7. Per Ataru. jSarek 08:01, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

9. Stake black msg 17:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC) - No argument given
10. This speculation is at least attached to a product known to exist, so I say keep. I also say that we may want to move the article to a title which doesn't imply it is definitely a KOTOR MMOPRG, and that we should merge the information to the KOTOR disambiguation page and delete it when it turns out to be an FPS based on "Howard the Duck" or something. —Silly Dan (talk) 18:09, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Comments

I'm rewriting it according to this press release, which only shows that LucasArts and BioWare are working on something. Of course, there is no confirmation that it is a Star Wars game of any kind, let alone a KOTOR-era MMORPG. —Silly Dan (talk) 19:34, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

• Would it improve matters to move the article to "Rumored Star Wars MMORPG?" —Silly Dan (talk) 02:58, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
• I think so. As Sikon points out, the speculation itself is notable. -LtNOWIS 05:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
