Template:Userprotected ([[Talk:Template:Userprotected|talk]] - history - links - logs)

The only people using this template appear to be those who want their userpages untouched (which isn't really Wikia's policy). Evidently this template's appearance on those pages is misleading some users into thinking the template itself locks the page.

I suspect the reason for the template's creation was for use on pages that actually had been locked due to harrassment or whatever (Darth Culator, who created the template, called it a "Special-case template" in his edit summary).

I propose that this purpose could be served equally well with Template:vprotected and would eliminate the confusion and misuse apparent with Template:Userprotected.

Note that this proposal does not mean "you can't ask people not to edit your userpage." You shouldn't, but you can. And you don't need this template to do it. Gonk (Gonk!) 15:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
