This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record.
The result of the debate was merge into the "Aftermath" section of Battle of Hoth. Some parts may be merged with Invasion of Bespin as well. - Sikon 13:13, 3 May 2007 (UTC).

Search for the Millennium Falcon (talk - history - links - logs)

Breach of something. .... 13:05, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Keep

  1. Canon event, from the movies, of reasonably high notability. Havac 21:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
  2. Unit 8311 08:59, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
  3. It's canon and we shouldn't delete it.--Windu223 21:16, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
  4. Havac sold me on it. jSarek 07:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Merge

  1. I agree with 4dot. Are we going to have pages on every hunt that Fett ever went on? This can be merged with the History section on the Millennium Falcon page. —Unsigned comment by Cull Tremayne (talk • contribs)
  2. I agree, merge it with the History section. --Jedimca0 (Do or Do Not, There is No Try) 10:28, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
  3. Per 4dot, below. Gonk (Gonk!) 14:53, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
  4. Merge into Aftermath section of Battle of Hoth. Sure it's a canon event, but if Chase through Echo Base is not warranted as a separate article, why is this one? Too specific and too interwoven into other things to need its own article. Wildyoda 16:05, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
  5. Down this road lies such articles as "The Threat to Kiss a Wookiee" and "The Rescue of Jar-Jar from Sebulba." Keep the information, not the article. jSarek 08:27, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
  6. Per 4dot below. Let's merge this with Millennium Falcon and Battle of Hoth. And as far as the article itself goes... as Mount Sorrow would say: "BE GONE!". Adamwankenobi 08:29, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
  7. It may be long, interesting and canon, but it's nothing here. Merge with Battle of Hoth. Darthchristian (Hey!) 21:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

  9. I would vote for a merge, or possibly add a small detail about it to a Hunts section in the Boba Fett page, or as said above the Falcon's history, though yes it does take up a large amount of one movie, we do not see on the movie scale here, this is a Galactic scale and it is a minor event in Galactic history, the same as Kyp's escape from Kessel, it's worth noting in Kyps page, but not as an article of it's own N.Y.N.E.Comlink 02:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
  10. Merge with Battle of Hoth and Duel on Bespin? May have to rename the latter. —Silly Dan (talk) 03:08, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

  1. Good Jesus. What next? The Choking of the Gammorean Guards at Jabba's Palace? The Dismounting of the Scout Trooper? Dogfight over Geonosis? Please, people, lets have the buck stop at Duels, Skirmishes, and Battles. .... 13:05, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
  2. This is not a battle, and I definitely wouldn't call it an "Alliance victory" just because they survived. Surely this event is recorded somewhere more suited to its scope in the Galactic history. How about The search for R2-D2 in the Jundland Wastes? ;-) - Esjs 15:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Frankly, this may be the stupidest VFD I've yet encountered. We have a canonical event which takes up a massive portion of one of the movies -- and yet it's somehow deletion bait. It's somehow comparable to Luke picking his nose. If you're that worried about the slippery slope to minor-event articles, this is the worst possible article to try to make an example of. It takes several smaller events, covered tangentially in different articles, and unifies them to provide cohesive coverage of an event. The Lars family dinner is completely covered in Owen's article, Beru's article, and Luke's article. Besides, simple common sense says that events must meet a standard of notability to be considered a discrete, inclusion-worthy event in a way characters or items of technology do not. However, this is not covered completely in any other article, and it would be absurd to try to fit facts as diverse as Han's work on the hyperdrive, Vader's hiring of bounty hunters, Fett's takedown of the other bounty hunters, and everything else together in one article. This is a horribly thought-out (or un-thought-out) reflex vote against something this article is not.
  • Why do we have Category:Events if we're not going to use it? We can have an FA on possibly the most obscure, insignificant, and non-notable character in all of Star Wars (and I support that; more power to Fourdot), yet we can't possibly have an article on what half of TESB was because all of a sudden we'll get articles on Han Solo's 33345th breath via spurious arguments. This is just another example of the massive character bias on this site. Everything's about characters. We get almost all our FAs from characters. We write articles on every character who shows up. But try writing about an event, which doesn't have a nice little birth date and death date and requires a little judgment to cover, and oooh, the sky is falling. Why don't we just rename this site to "The New Essential Guide to Characters, But Bigger"? Havac 16:51, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Because then we couldn't have articles on other discrete, concrete nouns like starships, vehicles, creatures, planets, and so forth. jSarek 20:47, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
      • OK, then how about, "All the New Essential Guides, Except Chronology, But Bigger"? Havac 21:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
        • Lacks panache. Plus, we do cover events - named events, like the Battle of Hoth, the Priole Danna Festival, and the Great ReSynchronization. But I really don't want to see conjecture creep lead us to articles on every scene ever presented us in Star Wars. jSarek 02:14, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
          • I don't think, though, that this is a case of conjecture creep. Lars family dinner, Obi-Wan Kenobi appearing to Luke Skywalker on Hoth, Anakin Skywalker showing Padme around his house -- those are your minor cases. This is a serious campaign across star systems and taking up to three months with a good bit of documentation as an event, with bounty hunters brought in and the whole deal. I think worries about spurious event articles are legitimate. I think worries about this article being one of them are not. Havac 02:43, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
            • So who wants to work on Luke picking his nose and its cousin Luke blinking? -- Riffsyphon1024 08:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
              • Stop posting redlinks. They're too tempting... -- I need a name (Complain here) 14:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
    • So possibly since I've voted to merge, why not start a new page all together to merge this into under events category, and have the whole page classified as the Hunts of Boba Fett and here those who want to fill the page with all events of Boba hunting someone, you put a splurge about it in Boba's article with a link to the entire article, and then you have your events, in a meatier article than just each of them individually, just a thought let me know what you thinkN.Y.N.E.Comlink 03:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
