- I JacktheBlack vote to delete page List of Imperial women not only a useless article but a glorified category (with respect to the author(s)--JacktheBlack 02:36, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
- Turn it into a category, if that's even needed. —NAYAYEN 02:44, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
- Why in the world do we still have articles for things like this? A category would be much more practical and, ultimately, useful. Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 16:23, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

- There really is no critical reason to keep this page and its data in its current form, even if it is organized in a pretty table, whereas our Lists of planets or List of phrases and slang contain sundry and such copious amounts of information that just can't be squeezed into a single page and/or single category, thus their viability for maintaining. The only reason I can see for arguing to keep this list is that it contains information that likewise can't be squeezed into a single category. That argument becomes moot, however, since this page can easily be merged into another existing article, like Imperial Military, into a dedicated section discussing the IU "phenomenon," if you will, of active serving females. This is a sort of de facto "merge and delete this list as unnecessary space" vote. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:23, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

- I'm a little uneasy with any in-universe "List of" articles. Menkooroo 21:20, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

- As mentioned on the talk page, this article already appears to have a table going for it, which is how we agreed to allow lists, pending they are completed. This article may be incomplete, but I do not see that as a reason for deletion. -- Riffsyphon1024 11:21, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
- This list is needed because it counteracts the commonly held notion that then Galactic Empire never had women in high-level positions. A category would be totally impractical, because it wouldn't have all of the supplementary information and formatting that makes it easy to find what you're looking for. A category just be an alphabetical list of names. It wouldn't have the sections, so it wouldn't be possible to search for individuals based on their branch of service and so forth. So it would be a lot less useful for people trying to use this site for research about the Star Wars universe. If someone has a question about this subject such as "Was Daala the only female admiral in the Palpatine era", "Were there any high ranking females in the Army," "Were there any female moffs before the Legacy era," then they're going to have a hell of a time trying to find an answer by browsing through a category, rather than simply going to this list. -LtNOWIS 19:59, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
- Per LtN. We wouldn't categorize other organizations by gender, and so shouldn't give the Empire special treatment. However, the explicit and implicit sexism in the Empire makes having a single place to look for women serving in it a useful resource. Categories are good, but there are times when lists are simply a better way of presenting the information, and this is one of those times. jSarek 02:51, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion
In my personal opinion, the list for both Imperial woman and nonhumans are not really needed since Categories can be used instead.--JacktheBlack 02:46, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
- Cluttering up Category:Imperials would not be ideal. A better option would be to merge these articles into non-huMan. -LtNOWIS 21:08, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
A few things in response to some concerns raised above. Firstly, the information found in this list would indeed be impractical in category form. However, I feel that all such information regarding women in Imperial service could and should be written into the main article pages themselves (i.e. the Imperial Navy page, the moff page, etc.). Also, if we shouldn't give the Empire special treatment by providing it with a gender-specific category within the organization, then why give the organization a gender-specific list article? That's the same kind of special treatment. Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 03:21, January 22, 2012 (UTC)
- As a quick clarifying note: searching through the list would indeed be more practical than searching through a category, but I think having an article for "list of Imperial women" is still less practical as a whole for the wiki than having a category for Imperial women (not to mention inconsistent with our typical practices of categories vs. lists). I'm not suggesting that we should have either; I'm just clarifying what I meant in my second sentence above. Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 03:34, January 22, 2012 (UTC)
