Han shot first (talk - history - links - logs)
I've been reflecting in the aftermath of the "Fan criticism of George Lucas" TC discussion, and I realize this page is unnecessary as well. It is trivia at best and original research at worst. The best option would be to delete and export to Fanpedia. I feel this page is different from other references because it focuses on a very specific topic fandom topic. Feel free to add another voting option.

All along the watchtower 20:03, March 26, 2011 (UTC) - While I like the article, I'm inclined to agree with its deletion. It serves no real purpose here. Korsa3 20:11, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

- This article is a relic from Wookieepedia's past history. While the arguments given below are persuasive, if someone created an article similar to this today, it would be deleted on sight. Therefore, in my view it is inappropriate to keep such an article. --Jinzler 12:50, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

- I must disagree. The "Han Shot First" phenomenon is one of the largest inside-jokes in the Star Wars universe. It has been referenced in movies, TV shows, books, and video games. It has its own website and T-shirt. I believe it meets the notibility requirement. Kilson 20:16, March 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Strong Keep. Going through the criteria laid out in WP:NFP, the content requirement clearly doesn't apply since this is not a project or website, so that leaves the recognition requirements, of which it must meet one to be considered notable. As Kilson pointed out, this phenomenon has been referenced all over the place, and just about any Star Wars fan will immediately know what you're talking about when you say "Han shot first", so I would say that that qualifies as the "widespread recognition" required by the "fan recognition" requirement. Also, a Google News search for "Han shot first" turned up two mainstream media references on the first page, namely this article on TIME.com and this movie review in an Indiana newspaper. I didn't look past the first page of search results, but if I can find two references to the phenomenon from this month in fifteen seconds, there's probably thousands more floating around out there in the media from the past fourteen years, so there's your "mainstream recognition" requirement met. Finally, I would say that the image on the page of George Lucas himself wearing a "Han Shot First" shirt by itself qualifies as "official recognition". In short, it needs to meet one of the three recognition requirements on WP:NFP, and IMO it meets all three. Master Jonathan (Council Chambers) Saturday, March 26, 2011, 21:27 UTC
- As an addendum, while I am aware that Wookieepedia is not Wikipedia, this is apparently notable enough for a Wikipedia article that has been solidly kept in four separate AFDs, the third of which has a good list of some more mainstream media references. Master Jonathan (Council Chambers) Saturday, March 26, 2011, 21:39 UTC
- One more for the "official recognition" category: references in official sources such as this one in Battlefront II. Master Jonathan (Council Chambers) Saturday, March 26, 2011, 22:40 UTC

- I'm inclined to say "keep" for two reasons: one, we have articles on famous sayings, and two, this is a major enough debate/joke that I feel it's necessary. MasterFred

(Complain) 12:35, April 2, 2011 (UTC) - As of right now, this meets WP:NFP. Whether or not we should be covering this is a separate debate—one that concerns the requirements in WP:NFP, and whether or not we need to make them stricter. Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 15:49, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

- And here's one more official recognition which I stumbled across when flipping through my copy of Star Wars Tales Volume 4 the other night: The Emperor's Court is pretty much a spoof of the whole "Han shot first" debate. Tinwe(comlink) 14:29, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
