Fan fiction (talk - history - links - logs)
I know that this article was put in the trash compactor before, but I think that perhaps this page should still be redirected to fanon.
- My first point is that fanon and fan fiction seem like the same thing. I would question what the fanon page says about fan fiction which says that "Fan fiction (also spelled fanfiction and often abbreviated to fanfic) is a fiction written by fans that takes place in the Star Wars universe. Such fiction is never regarded as canon." I always thought that fanon is just an abbreviation of fan fiction. I know that I do not have any sources for that, but the articles do not have any references anyway.
- Even if one argues that fanon and fan fiction are not the same thing, I would think that to prove a difference they would need to provide references. Neither the fanon or fan fiction article have any references at all.
- The fan fiction page has a great many external links to fan fiction that should not be there, and I cannot figure out why the quote from Legacy of the Force: Betrayal is there either.
- The fanon page already includes most if not all of the information on the fan fiction page.
- I would also claim that we do not need a page on Wookieepedia about fan fiction. I don't see a purpose being served by it, while the fanon page is necessary as a warning page.
In short, the fan fiction page doesn't add anything at all to the wiki, and it seems to already be represented in another more worthy article.--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 18:47, December 30, 2011 (UTC)
Redirect to fanon
- As the nominator (oops! I forgot to do this earlier...)--Exiled Jedi

- Yup. Maybe give fanon a sub-heading specifically about fanfics, but two different articles doesn't seem right. Menkooroo
- Definitely. Per everything above. I, too, always believed that "fanon" was just a way of saying "fan canon" (or fan fiction).--Cal Jedi

- Heh, the fanon page has a better explanation of fan fiction than the fan fiction does. Corellian Premier

- Hmm, no source... looks like fanon to me. DD97Which bear is best? 14:37, January 3, 2012 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think the redirect should be the other way around, but we can debate that once they're consolidated. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 15:25, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

- Whatever gets redirected, whenever, to wherever. Or, send them my way to SWFanon. Our entry on fanon and fan fiction is considered to actually be more concise and encyclopedic! XD Trak Nar Ramble on 20:46, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion
- At the very least I believe that some of the external links should be cut.--Exiled Jedi

- Wow, the fanon article just got the verify template placed on it for being possible fanon. Although that seems rather amusing, this does affect our discussion here. What does everyone thing of this development?--Exiled Jedi
