I propose the creation of a montage of Wookieepedians for use at Celebration IV, to showcase the people behind the screennames, that we're not just anonymous users but living breathing fans. This would involve the usage of one photo of each Wookieepedian spread out on a printed out sheet that would be displayed, either one already on the site or another uploaded by a Wookieepedia for the specific purpose.         • Of course, and that's why I've brought this issue up. Now technically, anything already posted on the site is public domain as they agreed to upload it to Wookieepedia, however we would still ask them for its use in exterior display. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:53, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

  • I don't think it's a bad idea, but if we're only going to have 5 images, and then a picture of four dots and a desk, what is the point? Should we perhaps go to each admin/frequent user and request for pictures? At the moment, even if this passes, it's going to look a little ridiculous. If we can't get oh say, twenty users to put up an image of themselves (not a fanon image of a Mandalorian mind you), then I don't think there's any point in doing this.     • I'm actually going to withdraw. The Four Dots were supposed to be a one-note joke, but since others are cashing in on not using their picture, then screw it. Call me insecure, but I'm keeping a last vestige of internet privacy.   • Consider that you have a bunch of pics of yourself already uploaded to other social networking sites. Would they not be considered in the public domain at that point as well? No, no, no, that's NOT the way it works. Things only enter the public domain under a very specific set of legal conditions (currently and for the foreseeable future, practically nothing produced in the private sector after 1923), or with explicit withdrawal of the rights by the author (as is one of the licensing options on Wikis). Now, some sites in the past have tried to acquire proprietary rights for themselves through Terms and Conditions of their sites, but that raised such a hew and cry a few years ago that few try it anymore; now most ToCs look like the MySpace.com Terms of Use Agreement, which explicitly states it protects ownership of my content. Regardless, those old ToCs never put content in the public domain, instead merely appropriating it for themselves. jSarek 10:36, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Riffsyphon1024, it's defintely one of my favorite shirts. =) I got it from Hot Topic about 3 and a half years ago. They don't sell it any more there.
