The NDA for TOR has just been lifted. Bioware sent me an e-mail stating the following:
"Disclaimers: We’d very much appreciate if any coverage of pre-launch content contained some form of disclaimer that all information is currently from a pre-release build of the game and is subject to change at any time. Since, y’know, that’s true. Always remember that the build you’re playing is fairly far behind the build we’re working on internally."
and
"Story Spoilers: One of the most core features of our game, story, is also one of the ones we’re most concerned with fans getting unintentionally spoiled now. We’d like to request for sites to avoid posting any spoilers regarding the game’s plot until after the game has been released on December 20th. Yes, spoilers will be out there from the moment we allow testers to talk openly, but this is something that is very near and dear to our hearts, and we want to allow players to experience the content for the first time inside the game, not outside of it. Once the game launches, you are welcome to post any content regarding the story you’d like, however we ask that you clearly mark spoilers as such, either by placing content “below the fold” or by having an entirely separate section of your site marked as “Spoiler territory”."
So essentially, mark all screenshots from the beta as being from a pre-release build, and make sure all TOR spoilers are clearly marked as such (using templates). We will likely see a lot of new content rolling in over the next few days, so a Sitenotice explaining the above might be in order. --Imperialles 20:13, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
- "Once the game launches, (emphasis mine) you are welcome to post any content regarding the story you’d like, however we ask that you clearly mark spoilers as such..." It sounds like we should be deleting, not marking, any story spoilers until December 20th comes along. Let's all be vigilant about this. Menkooroo 10:35, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm with Menk on this. Unless it explicitly said somewhere "Hey, we are officially lifting the NDA," then it hasn't been lifted. This looks more like a reminder of the NDA and a request from BioWare regarding spoiler warnings. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 10:42, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
- It's lifted. 1358 (Talk) 10:45, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Xd. That is much more explicit. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 10:58, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
- The e-mail did explicitly state that the NDA has been lifted—I was simply under the impression that it was common knowledge and thus decided not to include that bit in my post. The gist of the e-mail was "you are free to discuss everything in the game, but as a courtesy, please don't post spoilers until release. When the game has been released, please mark spoilers as such." So we have a choice: abstain from posting any major spoilers until December 15th/20th, and just add basic information (creating stubs for Person X, Place Z, etc.), or ignore Bioware's plea, and start writing detailed articles. Being the site that we are, people will likely come here for story information, which makes this issue especially relevant for us. Personally I am all for honoring Bioware's request and keep cool until release. Regardless of what we end up doing with the spoilers, we should mark any and all screenshots from the beta as being from a pre-release build. --Imperialles 11:12, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
- Complete agreement from this guy. Keep cool until the release, and honor Bioware's request. If it needs to come to a CT, so be it, but hopefully we can all just honor their request. Menkooroo 03:27, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
- Doesn't our normal spoiler policies already say no stuff from unpublished sources? Either way, I'm for "no stuff before release". (: – Tm_T@Wookieepedia:~$ 19:07, November 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Nothing in Wookieepedia:Spoilers. There's a CT thread out there somewhere that ended in no consensus. I think. 1358 (Talk) 16:55, November 22, 2011 (UTC)
- I went to test TOR this weekend, and the Terms and Agreements stated that we were allowed to post and talk about the things we saw in the game. Is this enough permission for us to begin adding content? MasterFred

- As stated above somewhere, you can add content, but please avoid spoilers. 1358 (Talk) 14:51, November 28, 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry. I must've misunderstood. Thanks for clarifying. MasterFred
