Could somebody please create {{Template:Static row numbers}}, from here: Forum:Adding row numbers to table?, or something similar for use here on Wookieepedia that would work in combination with {{wikitable sortable}} allowing the auto-assignment of a number to the first column of each row of a table?

I can think of a number of uses, in combination with Help:DynamicPageList and the sandbox, that would make behind-the-scenes page analysis (to identify and correct erroneous data tables across multiple pages and cross-reference the data with that contained in infoboxes, tables published in official sourcebooks, etc.) much quicker.

I'm not pushing for this to be used on main pages or existing tables but just as another helpful tool to use in analysis for the purpose of page corrections and accuracy.

I tried to create the necessary template and .css pages myself but the edit was blocked. Thanks. SlogginWOOKIA (talk) 10:59, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Heya, this sort of thing would be optimal for you to host in your userspace—our template namespace is almost exclusively for templates used in mainspace articles (and their existing tables) as defined by our Layout Guide. You can create such a thing for personal use at a page like User:SlogginWOOKIA/Static row numbers and use it like you would a template by having {{User:SlogginWOOKIA/Static row numbers}}. You're welcome to have a nearly unlimited amount of user templates and user css. In truth, given the css of this conflicts quite sharply with the {{Prettytable}} code mandated for our mainspace templates, it's not something we would consider putting in template namespace (which is the way we can let people know its approved for mainspace use) unless it was formally approved for such usage first.—spookywillowwtalk 20:58, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
