Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH:TC template quote / tweaks
Righto, so with the closure of Forum:CT:Trash compactor template we have a new Trash compactor template. Since it's fresh on everyone's minds, wanted to re-open the floor for some tweaks proposed.
- A quote—one that's been proposed is "What's this?" There might be others though—if there's any other quote suggestions to be taken to a vote that'd be good to gather in the SH.
- Ayre mentioned that it might be good to note that deletion or redirection are possible outcomes of the forum in question just so the template might be a bit clearer.

- "What's this?" is already used for Template:CatNeeded, I'd prefer another quote if there's any suggestions. Rsand 30 (talk) 16:05, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- One idea I had is from TFA: "Is there a garbage chute? Trash compactor?" "Yeah, there is." A more literal quote but it could work well. Rsand 30 (talk) 19:12, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- We really should not stick with anything that could be derogatory, which includes anything in relation with trash/garbage. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 08:13, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

- Definitely agree with Ayre. For the matters of the quote, I was looking for inspiration in Episode I: "A tragedy as occurred.", "I object to the Senator's statement." and "I move for a vote of no confidence [...]". I find "vote of no confidence" pleasing, so much that I would even consider it for a new name of Trash Compactor altogether. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 16:38, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Vote of No Confidence definetly works well and conveys that the article's nature is being called into question without being rude. If no other templates use it then that's the best option I've heard so far. To expand slightly on what I said in my vote, I think it's important that users immediatly understand what's potentially at stake for the page so that for those that wish to preserve a page but are unfamiliar with the trash compactor are still motivated to make sure they get involved in the discussion. - Echoed, vote of no confidence combined with very briefly noting outcomes sounds nice (just so people know to go and vote to save if they want).—spookywillowwtalk 02:20, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- VC could be a nice abbreviation… sounds good, per Ayre and Spooky above and Fred below. OOM 224 (he/him) 09:12, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- "Don't just stand there!" — said by Princess Leia during the same trash compactor scene in Episode IV. The "Vote of no confidence" idea above is solid, but that comes across more as a quote relevant to site policy or community roles (especially given the quote's context) rather than a page's fate; "Don't just stand there!" would keep the template quote relevant to the TC scene reference while also serving as a warning or call to action. - I'm not too concerned about specifying deletion or redirection as potential outcomes, but I'm not opposed to it. As for the quote, "I call for a vote of no confidence in this topic's current coverage," or something of the like could work. Master Fredcerique

- Hmm, this is the point in which I wish a plurality clause of WP:CON still existed. I'm suspecting we'll probably just split this up into a multi-sectioned CT (one for tweaking the deletion/redirection wording, one with a bunch of quote options, and one to rename the forum itself) and see how goes?—spookywillowwtalk 22:30, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with the current template. It's related to Star Wars and pretty benign. <-Omicron(Leave a message at the BEEP!) 21:41, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
