Hi. I've been noticing that the template {{SWTOR Wiki}} in Star Wars: The Old Republic articles leads only to non-existing pages in our neighbor wiki, making the template effectively useless. Also, despite our strong advertisement of their wiki (in many hundreds of articles), they no longer have anything connecting to our own Wookieepedia: not in articles and not in their main page (which was something they had before). If I'm not mistaken, the template was only created because Wookieepedia articles were linked there, the same way we link theirs here.

In fact, SWTOR Wiki has over 32,000 articles and it's 95% gameplay pages. Their main articles are nothing like we have here. Before I launch a CT for the removal of the template and any connections we may have with SWTOR Wiki—considering the lack of advantages to our community—I would like to know people's opinion and/or if there's even a need for such consensus vote. Cheers. Winterz (talk) 09:40, January 27, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hmm, that's strange. It is worth noting that the Fandom version of the SWTOR wiki still links to us (w:c:swtor:Rancor), but that wiki has been archived in favor of the Gamepedia variant. So either we remove the links on our end or ask if the Gamepedia SWTOR wiki wants to link back to us. I'd be fine either way. However it does appear the Gamepedia SWTOR wiki is pretty much dead in terms of activity, as well. 1358 (Talk) 18:04, January 27, 2020 (UTC)
    • Yeah, seems that all the template links broke when they moved in with Gamepedia. Regardless, both Wikis seem pretty dead to me. I am more inclined for removal. Winterz (talk) 20:13, January 27, 2020 (UTC)
      • I would actually prefer if we kept the template and updated it for the Gamepedia version of the wiki. Gamepedia will be a major part of Fandom going forward, and there will always exist a natural relationship between Wookieepedia and wikis concentrating specifically on Star Wars video games, as they tend to have much more focused coverage on games than we will ever prefer to have on Wookieepedia. It only makes sense for readers to be able to move back and forth between these different focuses. And I presume the lack of a Wookieepedia template there is simply because the old wiki version was merged to Gamepedia. I'm sure we can see about getting one back up. • I concur with Tope. --Rakhsh (talk) 23:52, January 27, 2020 (UTC)
        • If you believe that our relationship should stand, sure I'm okay with it. However, the SWTOR Wiki template was used to link story-content articles (such as characters) and Gamepedia's SWTOR Wiki is seriously lacking in that department. I don't think we should leave thousands of articles linked to empty pages. But in the main articles such as player characters and the likes of Star Wars: The Old Republic? I'm all for it. • You're certainly encouraged to remove any dead-link templates from our articles. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 00:01, January 28, 2020 (UTC)
        • Hi there! I'm one of the SWTOR wiki administrators. I seem to remember getting on IRC to speak to Wookieepedia's (your) administration about this topic a few months back. I'm not entirely sure what you all want to do on this front, but you're free to contact me on my talk page here, over on the SWTOR Wiki, or you can send ExiledRival a memo on IRC and I'll get around to responding when I am able. • Ah, yes, that was me. I was wondering what made me change the template link back in July. :P I agree that I would prefer keeping the links, but I would expect that Gamepedia SWTOR wiki links back to us, as well. 1358 (Talk) 19:57, January 28, 2020 (UTC)
