There was a period of time where we passed a proposal to have a LEGO tab. However, that was later overturned in a follow up CT. I wanted to kick off a conversation about a LEGO tab—or see alternate ideas that people may have—because of new developments with the upcoming book Star Wars: Droidography.
The new book will include information from canon as well as The Freemaker Adventures. Presumably, based on how the book ends up being structured, this means that some elements from The Freemaker Adventures will make their way into canon. The Freemaker Adventures is “canon adjacent,” meaning it has to adhere to what’s canon but the show itself is not entirely canon since it’s told in a sort of comical style befitting the fact that it’s all LEGOs. Like Matt Martin said on Twitter about how Roger is in this book: "A version of Roger now exists in the main continuity but that doesn’t mean the entire series is canon."
This means we may have a scenario where things that were previously exclusive to The Freemaker Adventures are now part of canon, even if The Freemaker Adventures itself isn’t. I see two main options for what we could do here:
- Reintroduce the LEGO tab. That way, Roger’s canon information can be documented on one page and his Freemaker Adventures info can be documented on a LEGO page. Arguably the default page should be LEGO for series characters, so this could be a use case where /Canon is still used for canon pages.
- We come up with a new page structure that allows for canon and Freemaker Adventures info to all be on one page. The behind the scenes style that we used to use on Legends pages for previous LEGO stories wouldn’t really work, since Freemaker Adventures is the primary medium these characters and elements would be from, but there’s probably a new style we can figure out.

- I'm gonna start off by saying I don't support the notion of having a LEGO tab on Wookieepedia. I could be swayed on the idea of restructuring the formats of the page to accompany Freemaker Adventures along with canon information, but that begs the question, why don't we have this for x-wing miniatures, Star Wars: Armada, Star Wars: Force Collection, Disney Infinity 3.0 (I'm aware that we have a summary for that which would be fine by me), and etc. We have pages for the actual products themselves and their appearances, but we don't upload the cards and gameplay structure and etc of that media. In my personal opinion, it would be more appropriate for that stuff to be in another wiki, such as https://legostarwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lego_Star_Wars_Wiki (I realize they're independent and separate from the Wook, but let's be honest, LEGO Star Wars stuff belongs in the LEGO Star Wars wiki). We don't include the non-canon elements and story of LEGO Star Wars on Wookieepedia (as much as I am aware of), so I'm not sold on the idea of restructuring the layout of pages just because of Freemaker Adventures. If we do it for Freemaker Adventures, then down the line we would have to include other non-canon media (whatever that may be), and we would have to continue restructuring and restructuring to accommodate all of these non-canon elements. Perhaps the best approach would be to bottle all of the Freemaker Adventures into a long summary on the article of the show. But I'm definitely not in favor of having a LEGO tab, and I'm not sold on the idea yet on restructuring pages.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 03:04, July 14, 2018 (UTC)
- It would be a major hole in the site's coverage and a major hole in the expectations that readers have when they come here. Wookieepedia is the Star Wars wiki, and while we don't cover everything, we do cover licensed content. Freemaker Adventures is a licensed television series that sits just adjacent to canon. Readers would naturally expect there to be information about Freemaker Adventures on Wookieepedia. Leland Chee, the Story Group member who oversees LEGO storylines including Freemaker Adventures, often tweets directly at Wookieepedia about Freemaker Adventures and likes to have a bit of fun in asking how we're going to handle the interesting facets of its relationship to canon. He sends those tweets because of the expectation that Wookieepedia would have information about an ongoing, licensed television series. Saying that it should be on a separate wiki is, essentially, the same thing to me as saying that Legends should be on another wiki. - Do we need to incorporate LEGO narration into Wookieepedia? Yes, I think so. The wook is the depository of diegetic (=part of the narrative, diegesis) information about Star Wars (and the documents who support them), so we shouldn't put aside any licensed story. By the way, Vitus mentioned cards/gameplay, but this is something else entirely, and while there is no word for it at the moment in scientific literature (that I'm aware of), I think it could be called gamesis, or better even: ludesis (relative to the rules defining a game, aka what you can find on a gamepedia wiki). Tab of reorganization? I feel like I'm against a reorganization that would put Freemaker front and center of any page, while the canon part is second: Freemaker is canon adjacent and nothing should be done that it feels the other way around, in my opinion. A tab seems the best option, for all diegetic LEGO-related info. But it could also be argued that we should have done the same thing for Infinities (Tales and such) content and the like. I would second Brandon that there are expectation surrounding how we deal with this conundrum, I would also ad that touching LEGO could bring a new audience to the wook, something that could benefit us in the long term. Lastly, I wanted to address something Vitus said: "down the line we would have to include other non-canon media". Yes and no. Yes, for consistency. But consistency is already at the center of this debate, in my opinion. No, because the wook is based on a artificial classification, there are holes here and there in it's macro-structure, because of the subject of the wiki (SW, a fictional universe), so there are no natural structure tending to say: if you talk about this then you should talk about this up and down the line (ex: in a natural system [tree structure/scientific classification], if you talk about chemistry, you should talk about physics (before), and biology (after), because they are linked. What I mean is the Wook is built on choices the contributors made since it's creation, if it wasn't, we wouldn't have this debate. - NanoLuukeCloning facility 11:24, July 14, 2018 (UTC)
