A new blog post has been posted to Starwars.com which shows the locations of various planets in The Force Awakens using the galaxy map from The Essential Atlas. Would this make the hyperspace routes and the planets mentioned in the blog post canon now? If so should we make canon pages with the information shown in the blog post? —Unsigned comment by Dr. Porter (talk • contribs)
- Anything from the official Star Wars website is considered Canon. So that makes the information from the blog post Canon. While The Essential Atlas is now considered Legends and thus no longer Canon, it does not mean that Disney-Lucasfilm are completely disregarding it. They are still using it as ideas and resources for future Canon products. Let's see what my fellow Wookieepedians think of this matter.Andykatib 01:35, December 30, 2016 (UTC)
- Let me first clarify Andykatib's message: just because something is on StarWars.com, by a StarWars.com editorial contributor, does not mean it's canon. Blogs from the StarWars.com team often pull from canon and Legends sources and talk about Star Wars information in the meta, for lack of a better term, meaning it's not meant to be a canonical source. In this case, however, placement of planets would have come directly from the Lucasfilm Story Group, so we can treat this blog post and the information contained within it as canon. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 01:43, January 30, 2016 (UTC)

- Are we certain we should consider this post canon? Pablo Hidalgo recently tweeted that the Story Group has no involvement in editorial content on the blog. The post also pulls a great deal of information from The Essential Atlas, a Legends source. Cevan

- I think we should consider the hyperspace routes that the TFA planets are situated on canon, because I can't really see them making that sort of thing up, plus it matches up with the canon galaxy map. The Great Gran Run image should probably be deleted, and I could edit the article to not include any mention of planets other than Takodana. -- Dr. Porter
