Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH:Formatting of comic and magazine issue numbers
I seem to have forgotten to post this on the SH last week, but I've got some Manual of Style policy clarifications I'd like to put forward. This is about how articles should mention comic and magazine issues, as well as how numbers should be formatted in articles, and should codify existing practice without adding new stuff. I ran this through with some fellow EduCorps members last month or so, but it would be great if more people go through this and make sure there aren't any loopholes or stuff that I've otherwise missed out :)
Any questions please let me know. OOM 224 19:58, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

- Oh also the "numbers" amendment (Workbench 5) incorporates a similar precedent that's documented on Tommy's old objections list, which has been obsoleted by the new Master editing tutorial. The Formatting section there should be updated accordingly with the passing of the proposed amendments. With the help of other review board members, I've tweaked the wording to accomodate potential exceptions like negative values, decimals, and fractions. OOM 224 20:06, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- Definitely on board with the numbers thing, but I feel like the comic/magazine thing's second point is a little instruction creep-y - maybe a user prefers to write out the comic issue's actual title, ie "The High Republic Adventures 5 of the SW:THR Adventures series" or something like that. - Hmm, not a hill I'd die on, but I think that's rather redundant and it's always something that I'd ask to be fixed on status article nominations. I guess it maybe shouldn't be mandated by policy though; I get that there is quite a lot of tidbits on policy pages and the sheer amount of stuff to follow can be frustrating. Still, I think it's good to document this way of formatting comic/magazine titles, in case (and IIRC this has been raised before) someone thinks the only option is to give the full article title even when it makes things clunkier. Perhaps it would be a good move to give more leeway by making these precedents on policy pages suggestions/examples instead. OOM 224 20:24, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- I think that might be the way to go, yeah. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 05:55, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
