Since people have started adding dates to canon pages all over the place based on Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, I thought it best to try and clarify what dates can actually be sourced to the book for those without access to it and newer users. The dates for all of the films, including Rogue One, are provided so these can all be added without issue with a direct reference. Lords of the Sith is placed in 14 BBY and Darth Vader 4 is placed in 0 ABY. With Clones Wars a large number of episodes can be placed, but many cannot be directly referenced to the book, and so a reference to the offical episode order is often necessary.
- The dates for Clone Wars are a bit odd. The film, Supply Lines, The Hidden Enemy and Bombad Jedi are all dated to 22 BBY and so anything prior to the Mission to Rodia can be dated as 22 BBY based on placement in the episode order.
- I can't see anything to date from Cloak of Darkness up to Trespass in the episode order, so these could either be 22 BBY or 21 BBY. Just say in the first two years.
- The first episode to be identified as being in 21 BBY is Blue Shadow Virus. The Ryloth Arc, Children of the Force, the Zillo Beast Arc and the Geonosis Arc are also directly placed in 21 BBY. Therefore from Raid on Nuvo Vindi's laboratory to Second Battle of Geonosis can be dated as 21 BBY using the episode order.
- Here's where things get weird. All of the early Dathomir stuff, the Mortis arc and the Mon Cala arc are all placed in 20 BBY; however, ARC Troopers and the Umbara arc are placed in 21 BBY. This doesn't match up with the episode order, and so either we have to declare some of this errors, or leave it ambiguous.
- The Box arc, initially Darth Maul episodes and Onderon arc are all then all identified as 20 BBY, but aren't affected by any of the above confusion. Therefore I'd say that from the Funeral of Obi-Wan Kenobi up to the Battle of Onderon can be placed in this year using the episode order.
- The Jedi youngling arc and the D-Squad arc as well as Revival could be either 20 BBY or 19 BBY so again, these should be left ambiguous.
- The Takeover of Mandalore arc, the Ahsoka framed arc, the Yoda's journey arc and the Crystal Crisis arc are all directly placed in 19 BBY, as is Dark Disciple. Therefore anything from the Takeover of Mandalore up to the events of Episode III can be placed in this year using the episode order.
With Rebels there are only dates for things based on Lothal, with the events of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, Fighter Flight and Breaking Ranks placed in 5 BBY. This means that using chronological placement Droids in Distress and Rise of the Old Masters can also be placed in this year.
Empire Day is the first episode to be identified as being in 4 BBY, with Path of the Jedi, Idiot's Array, Vision of Hope, Call to Action, Rebel Resolve, Fire Across the Galaxy and the Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal also all placed in this year.
This means that the episode Out of Darkness can't actually be dated based on the book, and anything beyond siege of Lothal will need to use other references to date it.
This sums up most of what can be dated to the book, I hope it will be vaguely helpful in the coming madness of trying to add dates to everything. Remember, if dating something not listed here then an explanatory reference as to how the date was worked out should be given. If anyone has more specific questions regarding the book feel free to leave a message on my talk page and I'll try and reply as quickly as possible. Ayrehead02 (talk) 10:01, November 5, 2016 (UTC)
- So how prominent are the dates? Are they just referenced, or is there any sort of timeline? Also more of a general question, are we good to start using these in Status articles? Corellian Premier

- There's a full timeline given at the start with dates given and then almost every page has a date given for any event described. There are preview pages somewhere online if you want to see examples, although I can't find any of a readable size right now. The book's canon as far as we know and Pablo Hidalgo seems to have acknowledged the dates are canon on twitter so I'd say so, I've already added them to almost all of the articles I've gotten to status. Question. Someone added 5 ABY to Mission to Vetine with the reference note "Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places 3 months after Endor as 5 ABY." Can someone clarify what that is referring to? What does it say about 5 ABY? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 00:26, November 9, 2016 (UTC)
- The Yavin 4 page in Galactic Atlas notes that Bey and Dameron moved there in 5 ABY, an event from Shattered Empire IV. Since the comic is set 3 months after Endor, it could be interpreted that 3 months after Endor is in 5 ABY. I'm assuming this was the basis of the edit. (I don't own the book, but this can be found in preview images.) - Cwedin(talk) 01:03, November 9, 2016 (UTC)
