(This requires a bit of backstory, so bear with me for a bit.)
Scavenger (pirate squadron)
This article exists due to a misunderstanding I had in its creation. Originally, the content of this article was in the behind the scenes section of Scavenger Squadron, a different, officially-named squadron, which itself was linked to in MK-09's article. Since the two squadrons were completely different, I figured a {{youmay}} was a good fit and split the articles, assuming that "Scavenger Squadron" was the name given in Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance. I completed the new article under these pretenses and didn't fully analyze the scenario the squadron's in for mention of the name. It wasn't until an objection on the article's GAnom that I looked closely into the naming, and, as it turns out, "Scavenger Squadron" was never referred to as such.
However, in the game mission, each starfighter is classified "Scavenger 1", "Scavenger 2", etc., and the game itself refers to such groupings as "squadron". However, the game is also known to simply give the purpose of the ship in this classification (though it also gives names of named craft, like the Pelican, in other examples). Furthermore, starfighters in a later squadron in the same mission—this squadron performing a pirate attack on a station—are called "Pirate 1", "Pirate 2", etc., which lends credibility to it simply being a descriptor and not an actual name.
- Update: Later missions have squadrons like SecForce Squadron, which has the same name scheme - the squadron is never referred to as such, but it's callsign is "SecForce" and it's actually not descriptive of its role. Therefore, I think that the name "Scavenger" can definitely apply as the "official" nickname, so the only thing that needs to be considered is the notability. Jorrel

All this to say I'm not sure how such articles should be treated. Obviously, "Scavenger" is not the official name of the squadron, and so any decision on naming the squadron would have to be {{nickname}}'d. The problem comes in terms of notability of the squadron and the aforementioned use of {{nickname}} to describe such a squadron.
Notability
The craft had a dedicated, clear, and stated mission (protect/escort the Pelican as it attempted to collect the probe), engaged in battle with a major character (Ace Azzameen/the player character), and does technically have a name ("Scavenger", even if not as an official "Scavenger Squadron").
I'm honestly not sure if there's any sort of precedence for this sort of thing, short of passing a "background squadron" test - the squadron is known, "named", engaged, and destroyed, so I guess this is to determine the fate of articles on topics like this - which, if this is to be considered a "true" and allowable article, means there are several others like it (including the "Pirate" squadron that comes later) that would have to be made. If this article is found to pass notability, such following articles would follow the same sort of format the current example has: "Name (role squadron)" (meaning the mentioned "Pirate" squadron would be Pirate (pirate squadron) - a poor example, but fits). That is, of course, unless someone has a better suggestion for naming. Another possibility: "Name (ship squadron)", since all squadrons in-game always use the same ship due to the game engine (also used in X-Wing and TIE Fighter, from which all articles of this nature would be sourced); in Scavenger's case, "Scavenger (R-41 Starchaser squadron)". Notability discussion
I'm going to initially refrain on a vote for this matter, in case someone has an obvious answer to the notability question that would signal a {{delete}}, like a previous precedence I don't know of. Further, this is a type of question I'd normally leave to IRC, but it's a bit longwinded for that application. Essentially, I'm looking for a general idea on whether or not other users view this as a notable article. Jorrel
