Check out the lead quote on Kaydel Ko Connix in mobile format (if needed, click Edit on the article and preview in mobile format). It's not vandalism; I'm pretty sure it's a bug in the {{Quote}} code. I've only seen it on that article (so far); other articles seem to render quotes in mobile format just fine. I'm curious if there's something about Kaydel's quote that is messing with the template code (like the question mark, maybe). - Esjs (Talk to me) 14:47, August 6, 2018 (UTC)
- I believe this is a well-known issue with Wikia that is beyond our control to fix (correct me if I'm wrong). The Quote template has never worked correctly ever since they rolled out their mobile skin, going on several years now. Shrug. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 14:54, August 6, 2018 (UTC)
- I have no idea why it's doing this. If you supply six characters or less as the source parameter (for example
Star W), it renders just fine in mobile. However I don't know Lua so I can't really do anything about it. I don't know why thought it was a good idea to convert many of our critical templates to a language that barely anyone on the site knows. 1358 (Talk) 15:05, August 6, 2018 (UTC)- It looks like this isn't Lua-related. The mobile template parsing code tries to handle different wikis' quotes templates so it "guesses" the correct order of parameters based on the longest parameter. This guess is not very intelligent, but on Kaydel Ko Connix, because the attribution is so much longer than the quote contents, the order of the parameters is being flipped. If we shorten the attribution field for now, it will fix the display. There is an open bug about this, but Community Support said it would be helpful for prioritisation if another Wookieepedia admin could email in this example. :) Cheers, grunny@wookieepedia:~$ 15:37, August 6, 2018 (UTC)
