Can a mirror stop a laser cannons shots?
- A laser is indeed pure light, but a bolt from a laser cannon is not. So probably not (unless the mirror has some magnetic field around it). Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 15:02, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
- Nonetheless, reflective materials like those used in the ENVC-370 Glove are at least somewhat effective at mitigating blaster damage. jSarek 10:22, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
It worked in a book I read. Luke Skywalker gave R2-D2 a mirror and he used it to deflect the lasers back at the guns firing! That book was Vader's Fortress.
- Then you answered your own question. I don't own that one (yet), and it's been years since I read it. My only question is: are you certain it was just a simple mirror? Or was it something else, some other material that can reflect laser blasts, and happened to show reflections? How was it described in the book? I didn't answer my question! I simply threw that out to see what you guys thought. I'll go get the book at our local library and check. May be a few days.
- Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude. I interpreted your question as "Can this happen?" and then your next post as "This indeed happened, in a canon source." To paraphrase Dr. Manhattan, everything that happens does so because it can happen. It is a very good question though, and I wouldn't have thought that a mirror could deflect a laser blast before you said it might have happened in Junior Jedi Knights: Vader's Fortress. I look forward to your follow-up. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 17:48, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
No. You didn't sound rude. I was rude to have that...outburst is the only word I can think of. You are right, it does look like I'm answering my own question. Anyway, I'm still trying to get that book. We were at the library, but it was closing in less than a minute and I didn't have time to get it. I'll try next time. I am almost absolutely positive that it only said mirror and nothing else. I'd thought about if laser blocking was possible with mirrors ever since my cousin and I had a LEGO Star Wars battle and I kept thinking how great it would be if he could hit me, but not hurt me a bit. I was thinking that for a capital ship or something. Thank you for your attention Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith! I hope you can keep giving it until I finally get that book. Thanks again!
- R2 uses a mirror (I guess?) to reflect a stormtrooper bolt in the remarkably violent-but-probably-not-canon Star Wars Chess PC game. [1] SinisterSamurai 16:15, August 21, 2011 (UTC)
