The result of the debate was Give Good articles their own Main Page queue and showcase a new GA daily. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:16, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
Hey everyone,
At last month's Mofference, I proposed the idea of showcasing Good articles on the Main Page. My basic reasoning was that I've always thought it a bit unfortunate that GAs, which are of the same quality as Featured articles but shorter, aren't shown off to Wookieepedia's casual readers the way that FAs are. There was a wave of positive support, and we started kicking around ideas on how to make it happen in a Senate Hall thread.
We're still figuring out how it's going to happen, and everyone is encouraged to post their two cents in that thread. However, before we work out the finer details, we need to do one initial vote. Offical proposals on the more minor details will be based on the outcome of this vote.
Two different ideas came up at the Mofference—the first was to give GAs their own queue and to showcase a new one daily. The second was to place GAs in the Featured article queue on certain days of the week. So, basically --- do we make Good articles their own thing on the Main Page, or do we use them to add more content to the Featured article queue? Menkooroo 06:34, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

Showcasing Good articles
Option 1: Give Good articles their own queue and showcase a new GA daily
- As I said in the Senate Hall thread, I'm strongly in favor of this idea and strongly against Option 2. Placing GAs in the FA queue would essentially eliminate any distinction between the two types of article, whereas giving GAs their own queue would acknowledge the difference. With this option, we would present on the Main Page our longer "Featured" articles, backed up daily by their also-excellent-smaller-brothers. The community has been passing [[User:Menkooroo/R2-D2#Last_year.27s_worth_of_GAnom_closing_history|an average of 32.3 GAnoms per month]] for the last year, and a daily queue could allow for every new GA to be showcased, whereas adding them to the FA queue could not. With over 1400 existing Good Articles, we wouldn't ever have to worry about a shrinking GA queue. We have more than enough content to give GAs their own queue and to keep visitors looking forward to coming back to the site every day. Menkooroo 06:34, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. I was opposed to this a while back, but I have trouble finding the harm now. Let the GAs shine. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 07:02, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
- We have plenty of room on the Main Page, right? And if FAs are being staggered to two a week, a new GA a day will promote more growth and interest as it updates. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:26, March 7, 2012 (UTC)

- As someone who has stuck to GAs and CAs, I support this measure. OLIOSTER (talk) 13:07, March 13, 2012 (UTC)
Option 2: Add Good articles to the Featured article queue on certain days of the week
- We have a shortage of FAs preventing us from showing them daily as we once did. We have an abundance of GAs that are every bit as good as our FAs, only shorter, and that currently aren't featured on our main page at all. This option solves both problems with one swift stroke. jSarek 07:20, March 9, 2012 (UTC)
Option 3: Do not showcase Good articles
Comments
- Options 1 and 2 were the two options with the most support, but feel free to introduce something else if you think it could work. Menkooroo 06:34, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
- If Option 1 or 2 passes, another CT will be forthcoming that will allow us to hammer out exactly how we can make this happen. Menkooroo 06:34, March 7, 2012 (UTC)
