The result of the debate was no consensus either way. —Silly Dan (talk) 02:01, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Voting competitions like "Mr/Miss Star Wars" and the present anniversary vote(s) are becoming more and more common place. As a result of a clash I had with another user in relation to the anniversary competition, we found out that we could probably benefit from a de jure policy regarding voting competitions. Apparently, there is a de facto standard format (but we don't seem to agree on what that format is exactly).
There are several possibilities for such a format; I can think of four right now (they're focussed on placement of comments/discussion since that was the problem the other user and I discussed):
- Comments on talk page: prevents comments from cluttering up votes but of course you'd have to open a new page to see and write comments
- Comments in separate section at the end of the page: prevents comments from cluttering up votes but the coment section itself might become messy nless
- Comments section for each nominee (kinda like on the vdf page except there's no 'object'/'oppose' section): prevents comments from cluttering up votes but may cause the entire page to become unnecessarily long
- Comments in vote section: clutters up the votes and, in my opinion, will mess up the vote page
Any comments? ;-) It's my impression that some users argue we don't even need a de jure policy for these things since they have no consequences for the structure of Wookieepedia in general. Do we need this sort of thing at all? KEJ 11:48, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Option 1
Option 2
- I prefer 2. One way or another keep votes and comments apart. Fnlayson 02:11, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Two, just like this. —Xwing328(Talk) 00:00, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Option 2
- Option 3, for me. That works better.---Vladius Magnum(Clan Magnum) 14:21, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Option 4
No policy
Comments
- Usually the votes aren't too hard to figure out, and if a long comment is needed like this one, it should go in the end comments section. —Xwing328(Talk) 00:00, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
