The result of the debate was change the Polish sister site to ossus.pl (Biblioteka Ossus) when it goes out of maintenance mode. Sikon 10:52, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
This has been discussed a little over at the Wookieepedia:Official Friends of Wookieepedia/Nominations page, and I think we should make this change, so I'm bringing it up for CT (mainly for a little more publicity).
Currently if you go our our Polish language link, you are directed to Empirepedia. I am suggesting we change this to be directed to Biblioteka Ossus.

Stay with Empirepedia
Discussion
- Ossus has many more articles. Right now, looks to me that Ossus has 1647 articles compared to Empirepedia's 237.
- Ossus is much more active than Empirepedia. According to thier respective Recent Changes pages (www.ossus) (pl/biblioteka/Specjalna:Recentchanges); Empirepedia), there's no comparison.
- Empirepedia is hosted by Wikia, which IMO is one reason to stick with Empirepedia.
These are the main points I see in the discussion. What do you think? WhiteBoy 19:39, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- If we switch over, our Polish colleagues should be warned that when Jedipedia changed servers, it took several weeks to get the interlanguage links pointed in the right direction: and that was just a change in servers, not a change in wikis. —Silly Dan (talk) 19:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Why couldn't we just have two Polish sister sites? Havac 20:12, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

- Why would we do that? Would we have two English Wookieepedia's? WhiteBoy 09:28, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- We could have BO as Polish choice one and EP as Polish choice 2. I don't see the need to drop one affiliate just because we have another. English is different because this is the originator Wiki and the primary site. The others are simply places we point to and say, "If you want it in this language, you can go here." Havac 09:41, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- If someone could explain to me why the two communities aren't working together, that would be helpful. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:12, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I don't technically see why sister sites of the same language have to be limited to a certain number: one. However, Silly Dan has a good point. Why not have the two communities merge? —Mirlen 23:05, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Don't they hate each other or something? -- I need a name (Complain here) 23:32, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- As per merger: In general, the Ossus team doesn't want to switch server to Wikia; and Empirepedia currently has virtually no community to speak of - people either moved to Ossus or resigned. Polish internet SW fandom is currently using Ossus, if any of the wiki-based sites.
- As per site content: This, of course, won't be visible by people not reading Polish, but most of the "recent" articles on Empirepedia (currently some 100 of them?) are written by people accessing from IP addressess and filling Empirepedia with uncyclopedian articles - just for fun/pun, and there is no one to counteract this. As mentioned above, most of the contributors (including the person who was behind the creation of Empirepedia) moved to Ossus.
- And yes, there were/are some personal conflicts between fans (not creators) of both sites, though they seem to have calmed down recently (maybe there is no one left to argue at last).
- And yes, I'm an Ossus editor :) I think perhaps I shouldn't participate in votings here, since my english-language edits were mostly on en-wiki, and a long time ago... NLoriel 11:31, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- As to Mirlen and Havac's point, I would say that we would want to point to only one of a certain language in order to concentrate efforts. If we pointed to more than one, we would be dividing the effort (number of people) that goes into each wiki. Simple math. WhiteBoy 17:21, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

- Is it just me or was there alot of vote farming going on in that Friends of Wookiee vote? Personally, I couldn't go either way, but its up to them to decide. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:26, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, AFAIK, Wikia will not switch any interlanguage code to website outside Wikia if there's website on the same topic on Wikia. Szoferka 10:52, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Now we don't discuss about changing interlanguage code to Ossus, but changing Polish language link to Ossus, just like with Jedipedia. DantE 16:31, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, Wikia won't change it. Szoferka 13:06, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, if changing the language link is impossible, the only solutions I could suggest are (a) get the two communities to merge/unfork, or (b) declare Biblioteka Ossus to be language code pl-2 or something and link to both sites. —Silly Dan (talk) 13:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Having both is possible, though obviously ways of merging these two wikis should be considered as well. I don't know the reasons for the split. Angela talk 21:53, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- They were never combined. Empirepedia was started first, then Ossus was started from some big website about Star Wars. Szoferka 04:02, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- To be precise, Empirepedia was founded on July 1 and Ossus on March 18 (first article). August 11 is the date of official presentation. Ossus is independent, but co-operate with the biggest Polish Star Wars websites.

When should we expect the decision in this case? DantE 21:15, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think I'm going to withdraw my support for this until someone active on Empirepedia gives their side (through a translator if need be), and/or Ossus explains what plans they have to bring over contributors and articles from the other beyond saying that the other wiki is no good. —Silly Dan (talk) 01:26, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
** I left a message on talk pages of people (both registered and IPs) on Empirepedia who contributed, discussed or corrected typos during the last month or two (excluding vandals, bad-jokers and one provocateur it totals five of them).
