Forwarding the SH of the same name. Essentially, hundreds if not more individuals have SW characters named after them. Often, their pages would, even if status'd, would only consist of [Character] in [Media] was named after [Individual]. Of course, anything with any more content than that has justification, but other than that, it was mostly agreed on the SH that ones with truly as little content as this should not have pages themselves. It does kinda also avoid the weird bit about us going through the social medias of folk who just had a character named after them to find stuff like their date-of-birth and stuff when they never worked for LFL or anything like that (aka, just normal people).
Proposed to add to the Wookieepedia:Notability policy as a new subsection titled "Individuals with an eponymously named subject" under "Real-world articles" subheader (thank you for the wording, OOM):
- "Articles may be created for real world individuals for whom in-universe subjects were named in tribute if there is a known story expanding on the event of the naming."
Note that this does not cover all cases; it just covers the most explicit "there truly is no story at all here" ones, ie Tweet like "I named it after [X]!" never to be expounded on again. There'll any number of things minimal story, comic illustration shenanigans and others; but I'd gander to agree with the SH that those all can be worked out case-by-case on the TC. On the flip side, it'll also firmly enshrine keeping ones for ones that do have story expounding as those have been subject to TC in the past even if they have a significant amount of story behind the naming and how it came to be.—spookywillowwtalk 02:04, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

- I know this is likely a small thing, but is it necessary to specify "characters or subjects" - just "in-universe subjects" would cover both, wouldn't it? Zed42

- Good point, swapped.—spookywillowwtalk 02:37, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- I'll probably never have voting capabilities with my current moribund activity, but this actually sounds really good. May I also offer to, regardless of whether an article is created, have a category for "has a real-life namesake" articles? Demetrius Viridianus (talk) 10:37, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Personally, sharp disagreement. Other than classifying something as canon/legends/non-canon or categories generated by gameplay alternatives or conflicting material, we don't add categories based on OOU qualifications to IU articles.—spookywillowwtalk 14:38, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
