The result of the debate was keep it as it is. Graestan(Talk) 14:33, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
It was recently proposed that the "Appearances" section in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series article be removed due to length. It's already at a ridiculous size, and if there's really going to be 100 episodes made, it's just going to grow to an even larger and more ridiculous size. People can refer to the individual episodes' articles if they want to see which characters appeared, because there will probably be many more "unidentified" characters by the time the next few seasons air. However, because the series is about the Clone Wars, and is introducing many new battles and planets, the "events" and "locations" section should be kept. —CC7567

- Why not? Use scroll boxes and make the text smaller if it gets a bit long. Maybe someone wants to get the "full picture," so they come to the parent article for this. I see no reason to lose information here. Toprawa and Ralltiir 18:21, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

- A scroll box seems to be the easiest way to handle this. Really though, if we're going list appearances on TV series, we should be doing the same for novel series such as NJO, LotF etc. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 08:07, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Only include "New" appearances

- Per CC7567. I also think this should be applied to the three other television series (Droids, Ewoks and Clone Wars), since the live-action show (expected to span 100 to 400 episodes!) will need this as well when it is released. Adamwankenobi 20:14, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Comments
- While it can be argued that the other Star Wars television shows (Ewoks, Droids and Star Wars: Clone Wars) still have their appearances lists, they did not have 100 episodes planned, and were not planned to cover such an extensive thing as the Clone Wars themselves. Additionally, the only appearances lists of those TV series perhaps able to rival that of The Clone Wars is Ewoks, which has a heavy amount of redlinks, and some things aren't even linked. Ewoks only had two seasons, and even with only Season One having aired, the appearances list of The Clone Wars is already starting to become as long as the list in Ewoks. —CC7567

Why don't we just make a page for appearances, and we link it to the Clone Wars television article? Dark Ridley 13:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Because it will be deleted, see List of KotOR2 appearances, and somebody will have to sift through and redo the entire appearance list. NaruHina Talk

IMHO too many articles about books, games, tv episodes, etc.. focus too much on in-universe stuff like these apperance lists. Our goal should be to turn these articles into real encyclopedia articles, not just some nice looking lists of stuff mentioned in that book/game/etc. I'd rather see some fully written out sections describing the main characters and new continuity stuff of the series and move the appearance lists to subpages. Scroll boxes still have some downsides, like article size (browsing the site on a dial-up connection or mobile phone is probably already pretty slow) and printing. --Craven 20:55, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Since when do we list appearances on a series article like this? Original trilogy, Prequel trilogy, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (comic series) don't include them - the lists are kept for the respective parts of the series/trilogies, just like we don't list Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) in an article's appearances, we put Cargo of Doom or whatever. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 14:22, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Ackbar. Most other series (comic book, novels, Film) don't have an appearance section. the Appearance section is much more useful in the individual issues, or episodes. Further more, the Series appearances sections are rarely ever complete (someone edits the episode but not the series article). That being said, I don't see any harm in putting a scroll box. If you wanna look at it, do it. If not, don't scroll. For that reason my vote is Neutral IthinkIwannaLeiaWaddaUthink? 01:27, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
