Two parter.
1. I've tried to figure out the standard way that jedi are addressed formally in the time frame of episodes 1-3 and im running short. Basically what was the official way both the public and other jedi addressed padawans/knights/masters.
i.e. At one point Palpatine addresses Obi-Wan as 'Master Kenobi'. Makes sense as he's a master. But lets say he is addressing... Aayla. I doubt it would be 'Knight Aayla', but at the same time I would imagine that Jedi Knights and even possibly padawans had some sort of formal title attached to their name in the republic. The same goes for jedi amongst one another while talking formally. Yoda refers to several jedi masters as 'master ____' but how would a jedi speak formally of a knight or padawan?
2. Before the Battle of Yavin, does anyone know the canon reference year that was used throughout most of the galaxy? (or the republic.) Possibly a reference to a victory in the Great Hyperspace War, the Mandalorian War, etc?
- I could be completely wrong here, but I think they may refer to knights as masters, at least sometimes. For 2, the creation of the Empire (19 BBY), the Great Resynchronization (35 BBY) and possibly the Ruusan Reformation. Chack Jadson (Talk) 00:59, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- 1) All Jedi from the rank of Knight upwards are addressed with the "Master Jedi" honorific. 2) Prior to the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Great Resynchronisation calendar is the most widely used. The BBY/ABY calendar isn't officialy used until 25 ABY. QuentinGeorge 05:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- What about Padawan? And jedi even refer to one another as 'Master ___' from knight upward? That seems... doubtful.
- Padawans in the Republic are regarded as Padawan <name>. As can be referenced in Republic Commando: Hard Contact on page 19 when Arligan Zey refers to Bardan Jusik as 'Padawan Jusik'. Jedi Smog 09:22, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

- In Legacy of the Force: Fury, Tenel Ka refers to Tahiri Veila as "Jedi Veila", and a Galactic Alliance admiral refers to Leia as "Jedi Solo", in Legacy of the Force: Betrayal. So it's possible other Jedi referred to each other as "Jedi".--Jedi Kasra 04:54, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- I was referring to conventions in the Old Jedi Order. This does not hold with Luke's crew. QuentinGeorge 05:53, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- As was I. Thank you, however, for the info Kasra. I wasn't aware of the conventions in that time frame either.
