It recently occured to me that, if an admin is absent for a prolonged amount of time, perhaps several months, without reason, his adminship should be revoked. I bring this up because the current attitude seems to be that we should have no more than a certain number of admins, and doing so would allow us to remove the chaff for more active admins. Any thoughts? Kuralyov 05:41, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

  • More admins will make things easier, but if these go 'AWOL' as well then we are no better off. Just a thought. SecondSight 06:39, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

      • I agreeeeeeee with Imperialles. Every other wiki I've checked (granted, not that many) has only removed adminship from users who (a) were guilty of some sort of abuse of power or other action which made them lose the confidence of the community, (b) stepped down voluntarily before (a) happened, or (c) explicitly announced that they were leaving for good for whatever reason. It would be helpful, however, if any admin who knows they're going to be offline for a while put a notice on their webpage, so we'd have a better idea of how many admins we actually have available. (Interesting how Imperialles came back the same week I put up my vacation notice, though...) —Silly Dan (talk) 23:39, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

  • In that case, I insist we get rid of this ridiculous glass cieling that has been unofficially adopted limiting the number of admins. Givne that about half of the ones we have now I haven't seen in months, and that we have several talented and capable users who otherwise would be up to it, it makes no sense and is a detriment to us. • Yeah, I've noticed in several requests for adminship, that some have opposed because they believed we had enough admins already.--Darth OblivionComlinkSith Emblem 05:51, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
