The Forbidden Systems was a region of the galaxy that was cut off from Aquilae by an asteroid belt, en route to Ophuchi. It contained the planet Yavin.

Behind the scenes

The Forbidden Systems originally appears in the rough draft to A New Hope. The first draft eliminates the term, assimilating it into the Great Rift.
