A flame cannon was a type of flamethrower used by the Trandoshan Commander Babwa Venomor on Kashyyyk, as the Trandoshan hunters and clone troopers of his Trandoshan-Imperial convoy scorched the planet's jungles, while hunting Wookiees.

History

During the Mission to Kashyyyk between 19 BBY and 18 BBY,[2] the clone troopers of Clone Force 99 and the Wookiees of a local village ambushed Trandoshan Commander Babwa Venomor's Trandoshan-Imperial convoy of clone troopers and Trandoshan hunters. After both sides took several casualties, the Wookiee Jedi Padawan Gungi disabled an incinerator tank with his lightsaber. In response, Venomor emerged from his own tank with a flame cannon. Aiming the flame cannon at the Jedi, he inadvertently set one of his own men on fire, while firing the weapon at Gungi, but the Wookiee managed to avoid the flames and retreated into the forest, drawing Venomor in alone after him. Venomor stalked Gungi through the forest with his flame cannon ready. Venomer set the foliage ablaze as he saw the Jedi dart past him. Soon after, the Trandoshan was surrounded by a circle of flames and Gungi leapt from a nearby tree.[1] Dodging the Jedi's lightsaber, he continued to fire the flamethrower, pushing the Wookiee back when Gungi slashed at him again.[3] After Venomor realized the slash had destroyed the flame cannon, he threw it and his satchel on the ground, preparing to fight with his claws.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Wookiee sanctuary first appeared in "Tribe," the sixth episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which premiered on February 1, 2023.[4] It was first identified in the Databank entries for The Bad Batch.[5]

  2. Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
