The yo'uqiol (translated from Rodese as "hand of death") was a carnivorous plant native to Ooo-sek.
Biology and appearance
Yo'uquil was a cross between an animal and plant. It could extend roots that would draw nutrients from soil, water, light and carbon dioxide. It could also attack animals that approached it by using its long tendrils to jab its target and inject it with poison. After the target dies, the yo'uquil would uproot itself and move over its prey and use digestive acid to break down the creature. The yo'uquil was known for its resiliency and was able to regrow unless it was totally destroyed. They reproduced through the creation of spores that could remain dormant for seven to eight standard years. Once it started the growth cycle, it would take three to five weeks before it could consume animals. Through they generally grew to about 30 centimeters, there was no limit to its maximum size.[1]
Behavior
Disguised as an innocuous plant, the yo'uquil would wait until an animal came close enough for it to be struck by its poisonous tendrils.[1]
History
These hybrids were often exported off-planet to be used as a biological land mines by Imperial facilities and other private organizations.[1]
