During the Clone Wars between 22 BBY and 19 BBY, Theed—the capital city of the planet Naboo—was attacked by the Separatist Droid Army. An artist who had been experiencing visions of Naboo's Republic senator, Padmé Amidala, saved her from blaster-fire during the attack.

Prelude

Between 22 BBY and 19 BBY, the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems fought each other in the pan-galactic Clone Wars.[3] During that time,[1] Padmé Amidala—the Republic senator of the Mid Rim planet Naboo—attended a bazaar in the outskirts of Theed,[2] the Human Naboo[3] capital city. There, her gaze transfixed a reclusive artist, who was overcome with visions of Amidala and her[2] then-unborn twins, Luke and Leia.[4] The artist painted images of Amidala for twenty-four weeks straight, after which he had an epiphany that he needed to save Amidala's life from a Separatist attack.[2]

The attack

The Separatist Droid Army attacked Theed with a force of B1-series battle droids and an OG-9 homing spider droid. The artist entered Theed and searched the streets for Amidala, finding her just as the Droid Army did, and saved the senator by taking blaster fire meant for her.[2]

Aftermath

The artist recovered from his injuries and later had visions of the planet Alderaan.[2] Amidala later died in childbirth[4] in 19 BBY.[3]

Behind the scenes

The attack on Theed appeared in "The Artist of Naboo," a comic story written and painted by Erik Tiemens and published by Dark Horse Comics in the 2005 anthology Star Wars: Visionaries.[2]
