"Answer the question, you spineless machine! Who sent you here? Who activated this battle droid factory?!"
―Grievous, to TD-54[1]

TD-54, often referred to as Tee-Dee, was a 3PO-series protocol droid active during the Clone Wars. Once owned by crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, the Hutt sold the droid and the Geonosian droid factory command codes he contained to the Shadow Collective. Seeking control of his own battle droid army, Darth Maul dispatched the 3PO unit to the world of Geonosis. There, the operation was discovered by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and General Grievous attempted to force him to explain who activated the foundry.[1]

After the defeat of the Separatist forces, the Jedi rescued TD-54. He was later captured by the bounty hunter Cad Bane on Coruscant, who initiated a speeder chase that ended with a crash that separated TD's head from his body. After his head was recovered, slicers in the Tech Citadel worked to retrieve information from his memory core. Learning he was previously property of Jabba, the Jedi arrived on the planet Tatooine. After a podrace with the Dug Sebulba, they learned that Maul was behind the recent events and went to the world of Naboo to stop him.[1]

Behind the scenes

TD-54 first appeared in the Twilight of the Republic play set in Disney Infinity 3.0, where he was voiced by James Arnold Taylor.[1]
