Kerko were quadrupedal predators used for protection. Esano's sister owned a pet kerko during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. In 20 BBY, her kerko was killed by Darth Maul when the fallen Sith Lord and his brother Savage Opress attacked Esano and his guards.
