Madmartigan was a male Human knight from Andowyne. The knight of Galadoorn disgraced himself by having an illicit love affair with a princess. He later took up a sword to fight Queen Bavmorda alongside his childhood friend Airk Thaughbaer. Madmartigan would vanish a year later when the Cataclysm destroyed Tir Asleen.[1]
Behind the scenes
Early in the production of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, George Lucas wanted the design of Obi-Wan Kenobi to have a warrior look reminiscent of Willow's Madmartigan.[2]
As an April Fools' joke for April 1, 2006, StarWars.com updated its Databank with elements from the film Willow and its spin-off novels, written as if they were part of the Star Wars universe. The joke later was revealed, making the Willow entries non-canon.[3]
The two movie franchises appear together in the non-canonical 1993 George Lucas' Super Live Adventure.[4]
