Dominik Mayer (born January 30, 1991 in Germany) is a German concept artist and illustrator. For the Star Wars franchise, he created loading screens of Darth Vader and Darth Sidious for the 2017 video game Fortnite and covers for The Essential Legends Collection reprints of four books in the Star Wars: The Old Republic novel series, as well as for the novel Knight Errant.

Dominik Mayer was born on January 30,[1] 1991[2] in Germany.[1] His[1] first Star Wars project was loading screen art for Chapter 3: Season 3 of the 2017[4] video game Fortnite.[5] The art, titled "Sith Ascension," was released in Fortnite on[5] June 5, 2022[6] as part of a cosmetics set featuring the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. Players could purchase the loading screen and have it appear while they load into matches.[5] On June 6, Mayer published his art on social media, saying that it was a great pleasure to work on the piece. He found it incredibly cool to paint Vader in his personal art style,[3] and later indicated that it was his favorite piece of work for the franchise.[7]

Mayer also created the cover art for The Essential Legends Collection reprints[8] of the 2011[9][10] The Old Republic novels Deceived[9] and Revan,[10] written by Paul S. Kemp[9] and Drew Karpyshyn respectively.[10] Both of Mayer's designs were also used for the audiobook adaptations of each novel.[11][12] Publisher Del Rey announced Mayer's involvement and revealed his cover art on June 21, 2022. The reprinted novels were published on November 1 of the same year.[8]

In 2023,[13][14] Mayer created the cover artwork for The Essential Legends Collection reprints of the novels The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance[15] and The Old Republic: Annihilation,[16] as well as their audiobook adaptations.[17][18] The novels were authored by Sean Williams[15] and Drew Karpyshyn, respectively.[16] The following year,[19] the artist also completed the reprint cover artwork for the novel Knight Errant, authored by John Jackson Miller.[20] In 2025,[21] another of Mayer's pieces featured as a loading screen for Fortnite's Galactic Battle, this time being a piece focusing on Darth Sidious.[5]
