The firebrand was a style of lightsaber hilt with a thin black body that was ribbed along the lower half to offer a stable grip. One end of the hilt was flared to store power cells with the activation switch situated on top. The other side featured a thin deflector ring to protect from energy backwash.[1] By 14 ABY,[2] the hilt was typical among Jedi trained by Luke Skywalker,[1] founder of the New Jedi Order.[3]
Behind the scenes
The firebrand lightsaber hilt first appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy as an option to customize the Jedi Jaden Korr's two lightsabers.[4]
